My given name is Eva Lucille Webb, but my friends and family call me “Lucy”.  I am a daughter, a wife of 30 years and a mother of a 27 year old son and a 24 year old daughter.  I grew up in a large family.  My dad was born one of twelve children to a farmer and his precious wife.  My grandmother kept me during the day while my parents worked.   She taught me the love of baking and the love of people.  A trait she taught my dad before me (not the baking part, just the people).  My parents and grandparents always taught me to put others before myself.  This led me to the career I have today.  Loving and helping people in healthcare.  I am currently a Clerical Supervisor for Novant Health where I use the talents I have learned to teach others, and advocate for patients.    That is why the quote from Maya Angelou is so important to me.  I try to always keep this in my mind everyday as I encounter people.  I want people to remember me as someone that made them feel valued and special. 

  

I set goals for myself and although sometimes it is a slow pace, I constantly drive towards completing the goal.  I wanted to go on a mission trip.  So I raised the money and traveled out of my comfort zone to Honduras where I spent two weeks in Choluteca going door to door in the mornings and teaching Bible school to the children in the afternoons.  

I set a goal that I wanted to run a 5k.  This was a lot to ask of someone who is not athletic.  I started to train.  Not only did I run my first 5k, but completed five of them that year.

I am an active learner, who learns best by applying or explaining things to others.  Full understanding comes to me after practicing rather than just reading.

Right out of high school I attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for two years.  I have set the goal to go back to school at South Piedmont Community College to prove to myself that I can earn a degree with expectations to transfer to Lees McRae College.  I look forward to completing this goal with flying colors and high grade point average.  Not to do anything spectacular, other than continue to help people and make them feel special. 

 

My dad passed away in February 2018.  I hope that I can pass on his legacy of love for others and his joy.
